Using your image, we will create 2 small masks taken from your image.  Research is a necessity here, so prepare to come with photos, mementos, travel experiences, stories, if you have them. One mask will be hand painted with clay slips, the other will be burnished for the pit fire which will take place on Saturday. The workshop begins on Friday. 9:00 am and is completed Sunday afternoon   Also, provided daily will be a healthy breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. This is an exciting workshop with surprises galore, especially when pit firing. Its a grand day at the beach, great conversation with exceptional people, good food and excitement around the pit when your pieces are pulled from the ashes. The first step. . .taking the impression of your image. And yes, the nose holes are left open and you can breathe! This process only takes about 12 to 15 minutes. It is like having a facial!

Marilyn's Masterpiece

Testimony
" This workshop was fantastic on so many levels. As a 64 year old woman, I know the experience of aging, and this workshop and the opportunity to confront and accept my image, in real time, felt like a "Right of Passage". I do feel like I have been through the fire and have arrived fully present, in one strong piece, on the other side. I have come face to face with myself as I never have before. What a gift.
As an artist, I am totally inspired. I say "am" because what I got from this workshop is still spinning in my head. It was a much needed press to be outside of my comfort zone and I feel renewed and recharged with vision. Another great gift. I felt totally taken care of, in every way. All my needs were met with grace and love. It really was an amazing weekend and Rebecca is not only a gifted artist, but a very gifted teacher.
Rebecca, thank you so very much!"

Tamara was on a mission to tell a story. . .her personal story. My greatest joy was seeing her face light up each time I pulled the pieces from the mold. She so enjoyed this process, we all were inspired by her enthusiasm!

" . . . I can honestly say this was an "aha" moment for me. I feel I can do anything and try anything. I may not be the next Da Vinci, but I sure have fun with it. At 61, my boundaries are expanded and I will use this experience to go beyond my comfort zone again. I would recommend Rebecca's workshop to anyone and everyone. You may discover some masks you didn't know you have and let go of other masks that are no longer serving you well. But above all, you will definitely enjoy yourself! yourself! "

      Testimony
Rebecca is a gifted artist, passionate artists' midwife and patient teacher. Through her skillful and practiced hands, her very warm heart and encouragement, I was able to create what I consider a life changing fine art piece of my face. And that is only the beginning. Throughout the workshop - before, during and after each day - something wonderful and mysterious was working in me. I came to new realizations- a knowing that has healed me on many levels. I embraced my mother, my ancestral heritage, and myself, in a field of forgiveness, tenderness and exquisite love. The synergy of the group was electrifying and was facilitated by Rebecca's calm and penetrating questions about what is behind and beyond the mask . It is a once in a lifetime experience, not to be missed by anyone curious about themselves and the mystery of life. Well worth twice the price.

At workshop's end, we linger, cry, hug and promise not to be out of touch. We have all gone "beyond" what we thought would happen.
I am always astonished at the openness of the groups. You are safe here in this ole barn and what is created here is more than a mask made of clay.

So, if you are curious, come join me and those who choose that same weekend with you for an adventure  "beyond the masks!"
