My visits to Africa the last four years have inspired the work you see here. The stunning savannahs, the African wildlife and the people left an impression on me which changed my life and the work, with many stories to tell. The women create their own life masks!
On my recent trip October 2010 to Kenya and upon request, I brought 7 newly pulled clay life mask of a few of the women who graciously let me cast their images. They were not decorated. The following photos are masks created by Monica, Jane and Rhoda as they embarked on a first. I presented them with a glue gun and some paints! They created the rest!

with the life mask they created!

Each masks is backed by sisal, dyed and woven by the women. The bead work is their own as well as any of the added woven acrutraments.
Fabulous!
